My name is Dave Barrett, I am a retired cabinet maker/builder and have been woodturning at Liddelow for the past 15 years. I have always had a passion for working with wood the colour, grain pattern and feel of the different types has inspired most of my works which range from plain turning to embellished and carved pieces, and over the past few years more sculptural works.

Liddelow Woodturning Group offers a safe work space where the beginner can learn the art of woodturning.

A beginner (both male and female are welcome) are invited to attend two group sessions to see if woodturning is for them before being invited to join the club.

We don’t have a structured course, but the beginner will learn the proper and safe use of the equipment in a supervised manner and be assisted and encouraged to explore design, different methods with the view of producing pieces that are functional and pleasing to look at.

We encourage our members push their own ability’s and to ask for advice and assistance with any difficulties they may have.

Liddelow Woodturning Group is a friendly group of men and women who get together for friendship and the love of hand crafting something incredible out of a piece of wood.
